The concepts of linear algebra are extremely useful in physics, economics and social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering. Linear algebra is concerned with vector spaces of all dimensions and linear transformations between them, including systems of linear equations, bases, dimensions, subspaces, matrices, determinants, traces, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, diagonalization, Jordan forms, etc.

It also deals with roots, Taylor's formula, and the Lagrange inter polation A First Course in Linear Algebra is an introductory textbook designed for university sophomores and juniors. Typically such a student will have taken calculus, but this is not a prerequisite.
